Warrnambool Golf Club is situated about three hours west of Melbourne in the seaside city of Warrnambool.

This 18 hole course is laid out behind a tertiary dune system and was classically designed by George Lowe, featuring a number of spectacular elevated tees, tea tree-lined fairways, and tight driving holes. Playable either walk or cart, Warrnambool Golf Club has gained prominence in recent years as the home club of professional golfer Marc Leishman.

Continual course development, in consultation with world-renowned golf course architects Peter Thompson and Ross Perrett, has the course rated as one of the top public access courses in Australia.

The highlight of a round of golf at the par 72 Warrnambool Golf Course is a trio of par 4s on the front nine known as Shipwreck Bend. Starting with the 4th hole, they wind between massive dunes, and when standing on the elevated 5th tee players are offered a tantalizing glimpse of the great Southern Ocean just behind the green.

Lush green fairways lined with dense tea trees or scarred sandy wasteland, the Shipwreck Bend is not for the faint-hearted and can cause the best of golf rounds to come to grief. Just like the eighteen shipwrecks purported to have sunk along this treacherous part of the southern Australian coastline.
