First opened in 1972, Wekiva Golf Club has grown into one of the most established 18-hole championship golf courses in Central Florida. Its reputation and popularity are due to a solid course design thanks to Ron Garl and Ward Northrup, excellent course conditions, and a desirable location within a populated residential community. On September 29, 2012, Wekiva re-opened their greens, newly constructed with Champions Bermuda, one of the smoothest, quickest putting grasses on the market today. A semi-private club that welcomes outside play, this 6,850-yard, par 72 layout features beautiful oaks, mature pines and palms, rolling fairways, 80+ strategically placed bunkers and gentle mounding that highlights both the fairways and undulating greens.
Crafted out of a wooded setting, Wekiva features many doglegs bordered by large stands of trees and no parallel fairways. All holes are very well bunkered, with water coming into play on only three holes of this Longwood golf course. Its straightforward layout is an enjoyable experience for the recreational golfer as well as low-handicappers.
Golfers can keep their skills in top form or take their game to the next level with regular use of Wekiva’s newly renovated Practice Facility. Its driving range and practice greens receive the same level of attention as the course since the club firmly believes practice should be a pleasurable experience.
Wekiva Golf Club’s Pro shop is stocked with great merchandise, including golf balls, gloves, golf accessories, and men’s and women’s clothing. Golf lessons are available from the head pro. After a round of golf, players can visit The Wekiva Grill room, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Golfers can stop in for a snack or light lunch and enjoy a cold beverage with friends.
