The West Palm Beach Golf Course, formerly known as the West Palm Beach Country Club, was originally established in 1921. This unique former PGA Tour site is a proud venue on the Florida Historic Golf Trail and was moved to its present location in 1947, and features an 18-hole, Dick Wilson designed, championship golf course.
The par 72 routing has hosted a variety of tournaments that have included famous players such as Arnold Palmer and unlike Florida's many flat courses, the West Palm Beach Golf Course has an undulating terrain that provides interesting elevation changes. The course features elevated tees and greens and rarely is there a flat lie. The rolling hills are covered with native vegetation, palm trees, and mature pines and oaks. There is also no water to be found on this golf course, a rare occurrence in Palm Beach County, indeed!
Open to the public and restored by Mark McCumber and Associates in 2009, the tee ranges span between 5,023- and 7,002-yards, with rolling terrain, elevated greens, and a magnificent variety of native landscaping. There is also a full grass driving range and large practice area that overlook the course
Although currently closed, in May of 2021 the West Palm Beach City Commission gave final approval to a 50-year lease with a not-for-profit developer tied to the PGA of America who will refurbish and operate the city's 179-acre golf course, a major step forward in the years-long effort to bring the neglected course back to life.
