One of the longest 9-hole layouts at The Villages retirement community in Lady Lake, Florida, the Yankee Clipper Executive Golf Course is a fun and highly enjoyable routing with beautiful facades of Florida’s flora and fauna as the setting. Golfers at this private, residents only course have a wide range of tee options ranging from 1,323-yards from the forward tees up to 1,978-yards from the back.
A good putter is the key to a good score on Yankee Clipper. Designed by Clifton, Ezell and Clifton, the par 29 Yankee Clipper offers two great par fours, although many would agree that the greens, with their interesting and challenging slopes, are what make the course unique. Golfers won’t find a lot of obstacles other than on the first hole, a par three and the course’s “signature hole.” The first features a beautiful view over the water with surrounding bulkheads and bunkers.
Aside from the Yankee Clipper Executive Golf Course, villagers can play complimentary golf on the 40+ layouts of The Villages Executive Golf Trail. Green fees on the executive courses are free for residents and, although golf carts are available for hire and residents can use their own for a nominal fee, there is no charge to a resident for walking the course.
