The Cypress Lakes is a golf development situated in West Palm Beach, a city known for its affordable living among Florida's coastal cities.
Cypress Lakes West Palm Beach is an age-restricted gated golf community that caters to 55 years and above. It features 992 single-family golf homes and attached townhomes that were built starting from 1976 up to 2007. The single-family golf homes are either 2 to 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms ranging from 1,250 to 1,645 square feet in size. The attached townhomes offer 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with sizes ranging from 949 to 1,675 square feet. Current units are only available on resale.
The golf properties are grouped into clusters. Desirable locations are those set around a scenic lake with fountains spewing out or those with a view of the 18-hole golf course. The community offers a relaxing atmosphere where walking and a bicycle trail are set around the lake.
The development's private 18-hole executive golf course was designed by two prominent golf architects. When it opened in 1989, the original design of Ron Garl was a par 3 style course offering 9-holes. The layout moved around a cluster of golf homes at one corner of the development. The fairways were tight and narrow, set about a rolling landscape. The greens were also small to fit the entire 9-hole in the development layout.
The course was later expanded to an 18-hole in 1994. The additional 9-holes were designed by Bill Dietsch and became the back nine. Having more space and a flatter landscape, the fairways were made longer and the greens wider. 3 of the holes were made into par 4s. The result was a par 57 18-hole golf course that stretches out to 1,763 yards.
The fairways are topped with Bermuda Grass and the greens with Tifdwarf Grass which makes the surface doubly fast for putting. The course has only 1 water hazard at Hole 9 and a dogleg at Hole 15. The rest of the holes are either influenced by bunkers or mature trees lining the fairways and it's a fairly easy course to play.
There is a practice facility with pitching, chipping, and putting areas. A Teaching Pro is also on hand for those requiring further instructions. Walking is permitted on this course with clubs and carts available for rent. The course is for the use of its member residents and their guests.
The Cypress Lakes West Palm Beach also offers other resort-style amenities. This includes access to a spacious clubhouse with a fitness center, a sauna, game room, billiards, a library, and multipurpose rooms that can host gatherings, activities, clubs, and classes. Outside facilities include a mini-golf course, a swimming pool with a patio, and athletic courts for tennis, pickleball, basketball, bocce ball, and shuffleboard.
The golf community is also pet-friendly allowing furry friends 20 pounds and under to share homes with their owners.
Another awesome value of this golf community is its central location in West Palm Beach. Residents are within easy reach of their daily needs with supermarkets, pharmacies, health care providers, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment located just outside the community. Beaches, nature parks, and museums are just a short drive with the Palm Beach International Airport just 15 minutes away.
