First opened in 1964, Ironwood Golf Course at Gainesville is a municipal golf facility that has steadily established itself as a major player in the city’s golfing scene. Aside from being a great public golf course, Ironwood Golf Course at Gainesville is also a small but growing residential golf community with a modest collection of single-family golf houses and condos on the western flank of the golf course
Located on the northern outskirts of Gainesville, the Ironwood golf course community is a family-friendly neighborhood with a natural setting filled with trees and water features. In fact, the community’s golf course has earned the prestigious title of being an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary due to its thickly forest preserve and vegetation which make it a highly conducive wildlife habitat. It comes as no surprise that residents and golfers alike regularly get to see exotic birds and wild animals in the open at the Ironwood Golf Course.
At the Ironwood Golf Course at Gainesville community prospective buyers will find around 100 detached golf properties, several duplex-style multi-level townhouses, ranch homes, and the Lewis Place at Ironwood apartments which is the lone apartment complex in the community. These houses were built from the 70s through to the 2000s and the interiors are usually modern or contemporary. With layouts of 2 to 4-bedrooms and 2 to 3.5-bathrooms prices for these golf homes range from approximately $100,000 for an apartment home through to around $500,000 for a larger detached golf house.
The 18-hole public golf course serves as the centerpiece of this small community. The golf facility is originally a David Wallace creation, but it was renovated in 2010 by MacCurrach Golf Construction, with Mike Beebe in charge of the re-design. Aside from the golf course, golf practice facilities, and golf school academy; the club also has a comfortable clubhouse restaurant that’s also available as a function venue.
Ironwood Golf Course at Gainesville is zoned for Rawlings Elementary, Bishop Middle, and Eastside High School for their public school options. The community is also just minutes away from the downtown area od Gainesville where residents can find ample choices for restaurants, shopping centers, medical facilities and all the services they need.
