Nai Chung Chang

Nai Chung Chang is a golf architect from Atlanta, Georgia. He started his golf architecture career while studying at Georgia Tech for his Master’s degree in City Planning and Architecture. He worked for William Byrd, an accomplished golf architect. His defining moment was when he was able to walk over the famed holes of Augusta National during the Master’s Tournament. This moment inspired him to become a golf architect and follow in the footsteps of his mentor.

Nai started voraciously reading golf architecture books, including Alister McKenzie’s “Golf Architecture,” as he was responsible for Augusta National. He also started to travel abroad to play and study different Scottish golf courses. His education and first-hand experience of playing very old Scottish courses made him realize the importance of balancing man-made utilities with the natural environment when designing golf courses. He also puts emphasis on the idea that a golf course must be allowed, and should encourage, walking.

Today, Nai is the CEO of N.C. Chang and Associates is a land planning and development company. His best skill when designing golf courses is the ability to meet clients’ objectives and his commitment to perfecting even the slightest details involved in any project.
