BRG Ruby Tree Golf Resort (formerly known as Do Son Seaside Golf Resort) and its 18-hole golf course, which opened in 2010, is located two hours from Hanoi and close to the coastal resort town of Do Sun. Ruby Tree is also close to both Hai Phong and the UNESCO World Heritage site at Halong Bay.
Designed by Phil Ryan's design firm, Pacific Coast Design, this par 72 course's 6,836-yard length runs alongside the Do Son beach and has been specifically designed to provide a strategic challenge for low handicap golfers and social players alike. Set against the backdrop of the Dragon Mountains this Northern Vietnamese layout, being a seaside location, also benefits from cool breezes, especially in the hot summers.
The design of the course has made full use of the area's many lakes and thus water comes into play on the majority of the holes. Consequently, there are safe plays away from the water as well as risk and reward shots for the confident player. Artistically shaped bunkers and naturally flowing streams wind their way throughout the resort, offering a peaceful and friendly atmosphere.
The well-contoured greens at Ruby Tree are generally large allowing for many pin placement choices. Paspalum grass has been chosen for the playing surface as it is highly suitable for the location and provides year-round consistency on the fairways and greens alike.
The BRG Ruby Tree Golf Resort has a Pro shop and caddies available for hire as well as a driving range, short game area, and putting green for golfers. The clubhouse has a sauna, bar and dining facilities, and a conference center.
