The nine-hole Stirrup Course is the second longest layout of the 27-hole Glenview Champions Country Club. This semi-private, par 36 routing is located in the southern section of the country club’s grounds and has a maximum length of approximately 3,567-yards.
Designed by Clifton, Ezell and Clifton to be relatively friendly to beginners, the Glenview Champions Country Club, Stirrup Course has retained all its original beauty since it was built in 2000 – just like its sister routings, the Tally Ho and Fox Run Courses. The longest 18-holes anyone can play at Glenview Champions can be found on the combination of Fox Run and Stirrup Cup – which comes in at 7,145-yards, the third longest round of the 12 championship facilities available throughout The Villages.
Sure, it’s a challenge, but course consultants Tommy Aaron, Hubert Green, and John Mahaffey, all former PGA Tour pros, and major winners, encouraged wide fairways on holes that demand longer drives while tightening the landing windows on shorter holes.
Indeed, the Stirrup Course demands both accuracy and length off the tee, but first-timers should not worry since practice facilities like an expansive natural grass driving range, a putting green, and a pitching green are all available at the club. Not to mention, a dedicated golf instruction team is there to help anyone who needs further guidance on their game, whether they’re a beginner or not.
Glenview Champions Country Club is a beautiful venue, with sweeping views of each of its three golf courses from the back dining room and the remodeled terrace.
