Located opposite Royal Melbourne and only 35-minutes from the heart of Melbourne, the Sandringham Golf Club has had a proud history since its formation in 1937.

The club enjoys the facilities of the Sandringham Golf Course, a council-owned public course, managed and maintained by outsourced professionals. The Club is affiliated with the Victorian Golf League, the parent body representing golf clubs on public courses in metropolitan Melbourne.

The Sandringham Golf Club was formed in 1937 and shortly after when Royal Melbourne Golf Club moved to Black Rock and disposed of the land it had occupied in Sandringham, the local Sandringham City Council established a 9-hole course to the design of Vernon Morcom. This course had a par of 35 and a length of about 2,500-metres. When one played an 18-hole round, the electric tramway in Bluff Road had to be crossed four times.

In 1945 the Council bought the land of the present course and built what is now the back nine, again to Morcom's design, with a par of 35 and a length of 2,850-metres. In 1951, three more holes were added to make a 12-hole layout of par 46 and about 3,680-metres. In 1956 the final six holes were added making a par 70 course of 5,620 meters, also to the design of Vernon Morcom.

In May 2019, redevelopment of the course commenced to convert the 1st and 9th holes into a driving range, and re-shape the remaining holes to finish up with a shorter 18-hole course. Whilst the redevelopment is happening the course will be 9-holes. Completion is of the new facilities is expected in late 2020 but golfers can still take advantage of the licensed café and the practice green.
