The National Golf Club is located at Cape Schanck on Victoria's spectacular Mornington Peninsula and is just a short drive to the south of Melbourne. The club has three highly regarded 18-hole golf courses at Cape Schanck, the Old Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, The Moonah designed by Greg Norman and Bob Harrison, and the newly opened Gunnamatta Course designed by Tom Doak.

In November 2014 The National Golf Club - Long Island Country Club in Frankston effectively merged. As a result of the addition of Long Island's Gordon Oliver-designed layout, The National is now the only golf club in Australia where members have access to four walk or cart championship layouts across two sites.

Updated in the 1940s by Vern Morcom and considered one of Victoria's hidden gems the par 72 Long Island Course sits on gently undulating terrain and features tree-lined fairways, distinctive bunkering, and bent grass greens. With only three par 3s there is a strong focus on the longer holes with the holes 3 through 10 ranked by many to be as challenging as any other similar stretch in the country.

The National Golf Club boasts some of the finest practice facilities in the country. The range at Cape Schanck has seven target greens at varying distances for an approach to green practice whereas the short game practice areas are designed with contours and slopes similar in nature to the design features of the courses and provide areas for bunker, pitching, and putting practice.

With uninterrupted ocean views beyond the undulating golf courses, the clubhouse provides golfers the ideal spot to relax with drinks or a meal and is also a picturesque setting for functions and events featuring multiple event spaces.
