Located in River Village Way, Fort Myers, Florida, the Verandah Club Old Orange Course is a members-only championship course known for its serene yet challenging holes. This 18-hole course can accommodate all golfers regardless of skill level all year round.
The par-72 course has a classic design that features a natural layout that meshes with the existing stands of live oak trees and a lot of undisturbed waterways. The course has four sets of tees for men, with the longest spanning 7,118 yards, and two sets for women, with the longest at 5,948 yards.
Designed by Bob Cupp and Bruce Howard, the Old Orange opened in 2003, and it has been the proud host of the annual Nelson Cup Matches. What makes this course a memorable round for golfers are its carefully tended Bermuda grass greens and its spectacular and scenic view of the Orange River.
Golfers will not forget the last hole due to the challenge it presents. They’ll have to hit a well-placed drive between two large oak trees to clear it. Golf Advisor has consistently listed Old Orange as among the top courses in Florida. In 2014, it ranked 3rd, and in the succeeding year, it ranked 20th. In 2017, it was ranked 17th, 27th in 2018, and 7th in 2019.
Equipped with practice facilities like a driving range, putting green, and pitching/chipping area, golfers will be able to improve their game consistently. Old Orange comes with other amenities like a fitness center, spa, clubhouse, and swimming pool. Verandah Club also provides tennis courts and pickleball courts for members to enjoy.
