One of Plant City’s best layouts, the Walden Lake Golf and Country Club, Hills Course, is an 18-hole routing that beautifully compliments its sister layout, the Lakes Course. The par 72 Hills routing offers slightly more challenging play. While the Lakes Course is known for the majestic Walden Lake, from which the country club takes its name, the Hills Course is appreciated for its beautiful and unique layout designed by two remarkable architects, Bob Cupp and Jay Morrish.
The Hills layout is shorter than the lakes, measuring 6,530 yards from the longest tees, but the greens and fairways are always well maintained and offer a fun, playable round for golfers of all skill levels. Opened in 1978, the Walden Lake Golf and Country Club, Hills Course, is open year-round to players of all handicaps. Beginners are welcomed by the friendly staff of the country club and can make great use of the club’s expansive practice facilities, which include a driving range, putting green, a pitching green, and a practice bunker.
Inside the country club, golfers can rent carts and clubs. A fully stocked Pro shop is also available for everyone to check out the latest golf apparel and gear. The club has an accessible swimming pool, fitness center, billiards room, and tennis court for other activities. Those who need a snack before a round of golf can head to the clubhouse’s on-site bar and restaurant. The country club offers a function venue for banquets, special events, and gatherings.
Unfortunately, the Walden Lake Golf and Country Club, Hills Course is currently closed.

Located in a traditional small-town setting, the Walden Lake Golf and Country Club is a lakeside waterfront community nestled around a 62-acre lake. There are 30 well-established subdivisions in the community and two apartment complexes, making it one of the largest residential neighborhoods in Hillsborough County.
Approximately 16 to 250 golf homes can be found in each of the Walden Lake sub-division. Residents in this community have access to a wide array of amenities, including two golf courses, a Sports Complex, a pavilion for picnics, kid and dog parks, nature trails, and much more.
Since the community is larger than most neighborhoods in Plant City, Walden Lake has its own ‘town hall’ where the friendly, professional staff administers all community maintenance, security, and business affairs. The association also maintains common properties such as parks, playgrounds, open spaces, roadways, bike and hiking trails, and the lake property; and collects assessments and pays expenses.
