A nature sanctuary within a city, the very private Interlachen Country Club – where membership is by invitation only – lies just 15-minutes away from downtown Winter Park, about 20-minutes away from downtown Orlando and about 30-minutes away from Orlando International Airport.
The very first round of golf on the original 18-hole championship course, designed by Joe Lee, was played on November 25, 1985. Twenty-two years later, the par 72 layout was re-designed by Steve Smyers with the intent of bringing to the fore the natural beauty of the surrounding environment. In recognition of its nature enhancement efforts, Interlachen Country Club has been certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
Counted among the best and most challenging courses in Florida, Interlachen Country Club’s 6,893-yard routing is characterized by carefully kept fairways and greens, as well as strategically placed bunkers. However, the most prominent feature of the Interlachen Country Club’s layout is the integration of large, man-made lakes into the entire landscape – a tribute, perhaps, to Winter Park, the city, bordered by Central Florida’s Chain of Lakes, the club belongs to.
Upon acceptance into the Interlachen Country Club, members will enjoy, aside from the golf facilities, ten lighted Har Tru tennis courts, resort-style swimming pools, a new regulation croquet lawn, and a fully equipped fitness center. There are also three elegant restaurants with distinct culinary offerings ranging from fresh and seasonal to a la carte and buffet.
The golfing amenities include separate, full-service locker rooms for men and women and a fully stocked Pro Shop. The practice facilities include a driving range, chipping and putting greens, as well as comprehensive clinics, and informational, instructional, social, and tournament programs.

Winter Park has been dubbed as a small New England village with a European flavor, owing to its history and the charm of its present cityscape. Just beside Central Florida’s Chain of Lakes, the town was once the resort of moneyed northerners escaping the cold of winter.
